Year you opened for business: 1993 as a coffee stand. We just sold coffee and Bagel Nutz. Opened up in this location in 2000

Briefly describe your typical client/customer: We appeal to a larger cross sections of a diverse community. It rangers from young professionals to middle ages to couples and older folks. We bring people in from all over the region – as far as Richmond – and boaters come in as well.

What is one thing most people do not know about your business that would surprise him/her? A large amount of people aren’t aware of our brunch. We have an extensive menu. We are also going to have a world-class entertainment venue with Mansion upstairs that will catapult is into the limelight.

What do you enjoy most about doing business in Olde Towne Portsmouth? The quaintness of the environment. It’s a unique experience for visitors. We have a lot to offer as a destination.

What do you enjoy most about doing business in Hampton Roads? The metro area and all elements of it. It’s a diverse community and we are on the growth end of that.

What challenges do you face as a business owner? The economy. Also, knowing the public’s wants and delivering.

What’s in store for your business in the future? The Mansion, a full-scale entertainment venue, located upstairs from Brutti’s. Will open in summer 2011.

What could local government do to help small business owners in your business district (besides lower taxes)? Be aware of our needs and what small business owners need to further their success. Councils get bound up with the bureaucratic office holders. They are doing their job, but they forget they are here for our success as well.

What is one thing your business district needs? More diverse business and more retail.
