How would you describe your business?
Customer residential and commercial seating, geared toward the hospitality/restaurant industries, reupholstering, design services.
Briefly describe your typical customer/client.
Our client base is diversified: A residential customer with their grandmother’s chair, or a hotel in Chicago with an order for a thousand headboards… everyday, it’s something different.
What is one thing most people do not know about your business that would surprise him/her?
That we manufacture custom seating, such as banquettes, and headboards for the hotel/restaurant industry. Also, that we make custom furniture.
What do you enjoy most about doing business in your district/community?
Establishing relationships with our clients. They will return with another project, or send a friend or family member to us. We often hear “Everyone says, ‘Take your furniture to Guy’s.’”
What do you enjoy most about doing business in Hampton Roads?
The diversity of our client base. We service the military, the wide range of hotels in the area, and the health car industry.
What challenges do you face as a business owner?
Trying to attract new clients, especially to our manufacturing division.
What’s in store for your business in the future?
Hopefully growing our client base and continuing to product the best product possible.
What could local government do to help small business owners in your business district (besides lower taxes)?
Offer incentives to attract new business.
What is one thing your business district needs?
Cross walks, especially at busy intersections such as ours. Cross walks with lights exists on Colley Avenue. I’d like to see this concept expanded throughout the district.
